Service technician spotlight: Andy Daniel
Service technicians play a vital role within the Patterson business and continue to differentiate our service from others in the industry. Located all around the country, we want to try and highlight as many as we can to show off their impressive skill set and customer connection.
Meet Andy Daniel out of Pearl, Mississippi. Andy has been with Patterson for 24 years and his title of Expert Service Technician has been earned with years of service. He knows something about each one of the trades including mechanical, plumbing and electrical, and is always thinking outside of the box when it comes to fixing customer diagnostic problems.
“I grew up on a farm and in that industry, you need to know a little about everything,” shares Andy. “I picked up on skills that my dad held from his work at a construction company. I also love cars and working on them in my free time. I was around different trades my entire life.”
No surprise that Andy is the go-to maintenance guy in the family. His brother owns a body shop and regularly calls Andy to come assess repairs and offer his opinion on the problem.
“I like a challenge. That is my favorite part of the job. Most of the issues I see at the dental office run together but they are not all common problems. This allows me to dig in and find a solution,” he says.
Being the most senior technician at the Mississippi branch, Andy trains new service techs and includes them in ride-alongs for a more hands-on training approach. Like other branches, Andy and his colleagues are required to keep up on classes throughout the year that speak to new technology and trends within the dental business. This all goes back to providing the best service.
“Patterson has the best service technicians in the industry, hands down. We are a service company. That is the core of what we do, and we do it well. This is a top reason customers do business with us.”
Andy has held a relationship with some of his customers for decades and yet still plays a vital role in getting new business in his region. Most days he interacts with those core customers by upgrading and installing new equipment. Other days he is partnering with sales reps to onboard new customers or partner with existing customers who previously haven’t done a ton of business with Patterson to see if we can fill that gap.
“I love the people I work with, and I love my customers. They all feel like family. Every day is something new and that’s what keeps me engaged and loyal to Patterson.”
