Our values flow into our business practices as well – minimizing our impact on the environment, creating a diverse and inclusive workforce and ethical business partnerships.

    Sustainability

    Protecting the environment is important to us and we are committed to finding solutions that minimize our environmental impact and acting on them.

    • To help reduce transportation emissions and overall carbon footprint, we work with our customers to consolidate orders and reduce shipments and packaging used.
    • To improve fuel efficiency and safety, our fleet program uses software that uses live engine data to provide real-time feedback.
    • We’ve strategically located our fulfillment centers so that nearly 90% of packages sent to customers are sent via ground service, resulting in significantly lower carbon emissions when compared to air emissions.
    • Flexible work arrangements also help us reduce emissions from commuting.
    • In the U.K., our drivers deliver goods in reusable totes. A circular economy of reuse, reduce and recycle is worked into every delivery they make.

    We're sustainable with packaging, too

    • We work with vendors to minimize packaging materials and manage shipping efficiencies and recycle or reuse all the materials sent from vendors.

    • Our distribution centers ship fully recyclable thermal liners for our packages so customers are able to recycle all components of our packaging.

    • The cartonization technology we use determines the optimal package size for shipping – reducing waste and improving cost efficiencies.

    • We source Sustainable Forest Certified labeled corrugated boxes at several of our distribution centers with more locations being added.

    Patterson partners and sponsors Women in Leadership and Management in Animal Health (WILMAH), an organization that provides opportunities to help women succeed at every stage of their careers through events and mentorship programs.

    Through our work with Women in Dentistry, Patterson helps women in the dental field connect and support one another. The organization holds locally focused events in 30 U.S. cities. Patterson leaders provide content and speakers for events.

      Ethical business practices

      At Patterson, we are guided by our Purpose, Vision and Values and by our Code of Conduct. This code defines how we ethically conduct business and addresses anticorruption, antitrust, health, safety, quality, distribution practices, engagement with business partners, protection of confidential and sensitive information, and whistleblower protections.

      Our confidential compliance hotline – Speak Up Patterson – is an important avenue for employees and third parties to report potential concerns about the company.

      Ethical business partners

      We also hold our business partners to the same high standards we have for ourselves. Our Partner Compliance Standards outline how our business partners must uphold human rights of workers, fully comply with applicable laws and regulations and adhere to internationally recognized environmental, social and product quality expectations.

At all of our locations, we proactively advocate for employee safety and environmental awareness to ensure we operate in a safe and responsible manner that protects our people and the planet.

      We strive to track and reduce the environmental impact of our operations through our procedures, policies and systems.
